Field Guardian Lieutenant (FGM300) Low Impedance Electric Fence Charger, UL Listed, 3 Joules This 3-joule electric fence charger (a match for the Power Wizard 3000) has a profile rather like that of the Field Guardian Sergeant, but it handles weeds better and administers a stronger jolt. It is well-suited to powering long electric deer fences with numerous electrical connections and small to moderate weed burdens. Voltage data: Unbaited deer fences need 4000 volts on the line to reliably shock deer, while baited deer fences need 2500 volts. The FGM300 electric fence charger will keep 2500 volts on the line (needed for baited deer fences) in the face of a major (50 ohm) weed burden, and will keep 4000 volts on the line (needed for unbaited deer fences) if the weed burden does not open anything better than a 200-ohm path to the ground. Joule range: The FGM300 puts out a 1.7-joule pulse on a 500-ohm circuit and a 3.2-joule pulse on a 100-ohm circuit (for more information about joules see About Fence Power and Joules). Other animals: This electric fence charger is good at containing cattle and spirited horses on large pastures. It is also good at containing pigs, sheep, and goats—and also at keeping out javelinas, feral pigs, coyotes, wolves, mountain lions, bears, and bison. General data: The FGM300 electric fence charger features all-weather construction and modular circuitry for fast and easy service. It comes with built-in lightning protection, instructions, and a three-year warranty covering both defects and lightning damage. A light flashes to indicate that the electric fence charger and its immediate connections are working properly. |
