Dare Enforcer 300 (DE-300) Low Impedance Electric Fence Charger, UL Listed, 0.75 Joules The DE-300 electric fence charger is suited to powering a short single-wire or three-wire baited deer fence, where one is concerned about crawling infants or small animals contacting the deer fence. Voltage data: This charger can provide more than the 4000 volts needed to shock deer with an unbaited deer fence, but only if the electrical connections on the deer fence are strong and the weed burden is not significant (providing less than a 500-ohm path to the ground). It does much better at powering a baited deer fence, which requires only 2500 volts to shock deer, because it will maintain at least 2500 volts on the deer fence so long as the electrical connections on the fence are good and the weed burden is not major, providing less than a 200-ohm path to the ground. Other animals: Unlikely to panic horses, the DE-300 is suitable for use in preventing horses (including determined horses) from leaning or chewing on barrier fences in small to medium enclosures. The versatile DE-300 can also be used to power a stand-alone electric horse fence where the horses are relatively well-behaved and accustomed to the fence, and where a relatively mild reminder will contain them. Also useful for containing sheep and goats where weeds are not an issue, the charger’s 0.75 joules are a bit strong for containing very small pets (8 pounds or less). However, the DE-300 is suitable for shocking most dogs and also for repelling small wildlife (rabbits, woodchucks, raccoons, opossums) because it will maintain over 1,000 volts on the electric fence line even when numerous weeds afford the charge an easy (50 ohm) path to the ground.
