Field Guardian Warden (FGB-100) Low Impedance Electric Fence Charger, UL Listed, Rated at 1 Joule (Actual 1-1.4)
The FGB-100 (a match for the Power Wizard 1000B) is a strong 1 to 1.4 joule electric fence charger. However, it cannot reliably power unbaited electric deer fences because its pulses do not have sufficiently high voltage. Therefore, for powering an unbaited deer fence one is better off using the DS-300 or the DS-800. Regarding batteries, a 55 amp-hour battery will power the FGB-100 for 2 weeks, while a 110-amp-hour battery will run it for a month. We do not sell large “deep cycle” batteries (the kind to get) on this website, but they can be obtained at www.ebatteriestogo.com or from any local store that sells boat or golf cart batteries. Voltage data: The FGB-100 will keep about 4,000 volts on the line (enough to marginally shock deer on an unbaited fence) so long as the weed burden is minor (providing nothing more than a 500-ohm path to the ground), and it will keep some 2,600 volts on the line (more than enough to reliably shock deer on a baited fence) even when challenged by a large weed burden providing a 100-ohm path to the ground. Joule range: The FGB-100 yields a 1-joule pulse on a 500-ohm circuit and a 1.4-joule pulse on a 100-ohm circuit. (For more about joules see About Fence Power and Joules). Other animals: The FGB-100 is useful for containing livestock (including horses, cattle, pigs, sheep, and goats), for keeping out predators (including foxes, coyotes, wolves, javelinas, and feral pigs), and for powering dog fences. General data: The FGB-100 has an all-weather case, built-in lightning protection, and advanced engineering that provides peak output under difficult conditions. It also comes with a flashing light that shows when the unit and its immediate fence connections are working properly, installation instructions, and a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects and lightning damage.
